idrive hump dash how difficult to install

Not looking to install idrive, just the dash and fit my existing tablet into it.

So no wiring etc needed.

What needs removing to JUST fit the idrive dash?

I take i dont need to remove centre console, but will need to remove steering wheel etc?

Very interested in this, I've been considering it too.

If you get the dash, could you tell me the measurements of the 'hole' for the screen?

Thanks.

Boosters CCC non idrive retrofit is the best guide I've seen which deals with the dash. And yes, steering week off job.

Still can be done in a few hours with careful planning.

I've got a double scoop dash sat in the garage. What measurements do you need?

I'm just after the size of the 'hole' in it.

When you look at the dash, I'm trying to work out what size tablet I'd need to fit in it. I know it's not a perfect rectangle hole, but to know the biggest screen that could be fitted & then you'd obviously just fabricate something to hold it there and fill the space around it with some sort of plain black moulding.

Cheers

Here are some pics.

I'd say that the max usable height is 8cm and the width is 23cm. Sure, the shape of the hump is larger overall, but for a screen, 8x23cm is about it.

Perfect, thank you!

Hmm, quite a wide gap but not very tall. Just need to work out what size screen would fit in that gap.

Is the dash for sale by any chance

I wouldn't mount the tablet where the screen would normally be, would be incredibly uncomfortable to use. I'd cut out the scoop area inside the hump and try and fit something right against the front edge.

Don't forget the radio area is different on the iDrive dash too.
