E90 318i same engine as 320i - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Hi,

Anybody know if the 318i has the same engine as 320i as they do apear to be the same when looking at the spec's.

I have just bought a 318i M sport and was wondering if it is possible to get the chip updated to the 320?

Any help on this would be really appreciated.

I believe it is the same engine, detuned through software. However, BMW like to restrict performance via exhausts and manifolds too so they might need upgrading to get 320i performance.
