120K miles and still loving her !
Looking to put on some 19" rims this Spring along with other things...turbo's, front lip, etc! Liking a few rims, especially those BBS LM type.....any ideas.
She's been a really reliable car and is a BLAST to drive....took her out in a few inches of snow the other day. My wife asked if I wanted to take here SUV to go pick up my daughter in the snow, I laughed. I am always running JB4 Map3 with Methanol. On occassion I will run an E85 and 94 Octane...... The power is so smooth....you are pulling and pushing the car with the AWD so the feeling is different than a RWD M3 like I had before this. Still on original stock turbos and clutch. Nothing really major to fix out of warranty, except electric water pump. |

Prior M3 was an E46, before that was a E46 328i, before that was an E36 323is...hence the term e36graduate.
Current suspension set up: Front: HR Sport Struts and HR Sport Springs (non-XI version) 12.5 mm Rear: KW V1 set up (sold the front Kw's after the dampeners blew). |

Great to hear you made it 120k miles..I'm looking at a 335i with 78k miles on it for $16,800. Any tips? Maintenances I should worry about..the big one for my N52 was the valve cover gasket..ran me almost $400. What do I have to worry about the 335..doesn't the water pump cost about a grand to fix? It's CPO if that means anything..

get the VIN and call a good BMW SA and see if they can help you, be polite and just explain your situation on buying and need some input on what was done to the car. Look to see if the prior owners had the carbon build up cleaned out, injectors changed, HPFP changed, etc...... Check the inside of the tires for wear...probably due for some new tires.. take it for a ride with windows closed, everything off and listen for rattles in front suspension. Listen for whinning turbos.....listen for ticking....kidding, these motors are very ticky! Prepare on the water pump being fixed.....parts are $500 if you can twist a wrench....I think stealers want $1500 and indi's get $1000 ???? Your HPFP is under warranty for 10 years and 120,000 miles so no worries, even though its a $250 part and a few hours of labor. Good luck, but this is my 4th BMW and for good reasons, they are great cars, well engineered and not that difficult to fix with the help of the forum members....keep searching this forum as these cars are pretty much the same in regards to problems. |

Also, your current car looks to be an E90 so it's basically the same car, except the power.....save yourself about $2000 and buy a JB4/G5, meth kit, DCI, OCC, etc....and they you will tell yourself I should have bought this car sooner! |

Uh...those are Bilstein Sport Struts (think I have one blown now) on HR Sport Springs.
I posted a bigger picture so you can see why the rims gotta be replaced....120,000 miles of curbing the crappy pot hole roads of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.....so glad I pay taxes, tolls and buy new tires, shocks every few years! Quote:

Always makes me happy to see some higher mileage N54s that haven't blown out their owner's wallets....I'm only at 40K but it's still nice to see. Car looks to be in good shape OP!

120k? Perfect time for some mods!
BBS LMs are some of the BEST wheels out there. They seem to fit BMWs PERFECT and are almost made for bimmers. You cant go wrong with them!! what mileage did your water pump go out? Any signs before it died?

There were no obvious signs before the pump threw a code except I noticed my aux fan was staying on, then I got a yellow warning light and then a red warning light shortly after that. I didn't mess around as my car had about 115K on it when it threw the code...so I just ordered the part, put my car up on jack stands and took off old tstat and pump, flew to California for a meeting, flew home, parts had arrived from Turner Motorsports and replaced them next day...no biggie.
