Upgrading FMIC question(VRSF 7")

Hey, guys, I am about to order the 7" FMIC from their website and I have a question. It asks if I want to add a lower charge pipe and says it is necessary, do I have to get it? My car is a 2010 e90. I know IC can possibly void the warranty, but from what I heard less so if charge pipes are stock. Could somebody clarify on both aspects, please? Thank you.

Oh, the mods I am planning are 7" FMIC, Dps, Cobb, DCI. Already have Vanguard V2. Planning to go with Vrsf dps as well. Thank you!

Add it to the order just a metal pipe that connects to the stock charge pipe that plastic piece is junk.

How hard is that charge pipe to install? When I put in my BMS intake, it didn't look like it would be too bad.

You need it. The older n54s had two piece lower charge pipes that the silicone coupler would fit right onto but for the newer one piece type that won't work unless you cut it.

This is what I have. On this I had to cut the 1 time use hose clamp, remove the elbow and use the supplied elbow and t-clamp.

If this is what you have, all you have to do is cut it in the same spot where my elbow stops. Let me know if you need any measurements of my stock elbow as a reference. If you ever wanted to put it back to stock just buy a 2" long (I think 2.5" ID) silicone coupler and 2 hose clamps to fit the two sections back together.

Hope this helps

Send a message via AIM to Jeff@TopGearSolutions
The 7 inch is on back order until some time in June. The options menu does have a notation that if you have a 2009+ you need the charge pipe.

I am fine with waiting as I want to install IC, DPs, DCI at once. Also in my original post I did mention that it is recommended and wanted to confirm/get opinion why Also it will give me time to finalize decision between COBB and JB4 G5 ISO
