EFR GTi vs FBO 335's

I'm sure the owners of the 335's are on this forum... JB4 got a CEL and cobb owner said his car was pulling timing post shift, even though hes protuned. Who runs their car when its not running 100% or could they just looking for excuses?

Runs were for fun. I was the cobb car. That GTI is no joke with its BW EFR 7163 turbo+weight reduction. Once he turns up boost, I'm not even sure RB cars will hang.

Just fyi I've trapped 119 in that car on the cobb protune.

I see no excuses anywhere? the first two runs with the gray 335i were fine. third run was the one with the cel.

The first run the 335i won and shut down, 2nd race was the same.

3rd run makes it apparent there was a problem.

Cobb car definitely needs some adjustments. It should be just as strong as the JB4 car.

I been dealing with that for years now, only way to fix it as of today is to run Cobb + JB4 together. Imagine how the GTI would run if it ran 12 degrees of timing below target.

But I do agree, N54's are temperamental as hell, and it's very rare that they are running 100% 100% of the time.

Cobb car needs to stack JB4 to fix that little issue he is having.

Any am I the only one that notices how the 335i stops pulling as soon as he goes into the next gear? Timing flatline sucks. Fix it.

Here's a quote from the guy driving the GTi
Quote:
Made a mistake in the mods list in the video... The first (gray) 335i is only running 30% E85 mix, not 50%.

OK so he's running 1-2 degrees less timing equating to 10-15 whp less peak if it's tuned properly.

I am sorry, there is absolutely nothing anyone can do about the flatline issue running Cobb only. It's a sore point for me because I've done close to 100 datalogs trying to fix it with no avail. There is a way to make it slightly better at the expense of throttle position, in both ATP or ATR, but if you have a 6AT, stay away from Cobb only if you care about real-world performance.

But yes, I experienced first-hand what timing flatline does to a car (ran my friend's C63 with an OE tune, we are close to even until I shift into 5th and he proceeds to put 3 car lengths on me from say 125-155). I also ran laloosh aka Clap135 at the drag strip, dead even until I shift into 4th, then he puts 2 cars on me.

But sure, no one ever cared, sigh. Imagine how I felt after dealing with this for over two years.

I believe you can toggle a setting to make Map 4 run the Cobb set point if you want instead of the 7 psi.

So if I'm reading this right you lose all advantage of having an AT with it holding boost over a 6MT during shifts because of the timing flat line with the Cobb tune?

Does this only apply to AT's?

And last question does this only apply to Cobb or do other flash tune's suffer from it as well?

Not as bad as a 6MT shift bog, but in my VBOX testing, you lose 0.3 seconds in the 60-130, and about 1.5 mph in the quarter mile.

I don't have experience with any other flash tunes nor does any flash tune other than Cobb allow for datalogging of timing in all six cylinders.
