Mystery wiring harness, left side near cabin air

Hi...recently sold my 2003 M5 and bought a 2007 335i coupe. Had the hood up today about to do the LED angel eye upgrade and noticed a dangling wiring harness on the drivers side close next to the cabin air filter housing. The harness isn't attached to anything and is coming out of a 6" x 6" box of some sort that may be the car alarm. Can you take a look at the photos attached and tell me what the heck it goes to?

Thanks!

John

That clips onto the cowl.
Look up procede install video and youll see him remove that at the beginining o the video. Theres 2 sensors, one on each side of the cowl.

That would be for the hood alarm sensor.

Driver side is the hood alarm sensor. Cars with no alarm just have a dummy plug.
Passenger side is the fresh air sensor for when you have it in Auto Recirculation mode. Monitors outside air for pollutants and adjusts fresh air doors as needed.

OP, I think you should put your cowl back on, it helps with water drainage when it rains outside..

Bump....

Does anyone have any pics of how these look when installed properly?
Mine are just laying there.

Edit: Thanks. I found the video referenced above and found what I needed.
