Experience with dealership's paint sealant warranty
Yes, I was dumb enough to pay $400 for the dealership's paint sealant application to my jet black F30. Of course, before I did that, they made all kinds of promises of a lifetime warranty, dramatic reduction in swirl marks, etc. Guess what ... Took my one-month old beauty to a reputable hand car wash (let's omit the place's name for now) and now the big-ass swirl marks are all over the car. So, I have a dilemma: claim paint recovery from the dealership under warranty or try and get the situation resolved by the car wash place. Has anyone used paint sealant's warranty to make the dealer remove the swirl marks on a practically new car?

Try hand washing it with some Griots car wash formula and dry it with microfiber drying towels. I had the same thing happen as well when I was down in AZ then I hand washed it when I got home with my Griots and it went away. If that doesnt work there are different polishing compounds you could use from meguires and Griots to get rid of those swirl marks. Worse case you do a light cut and buff.

Thanks, hookandpull! I'm still trying to see if I can get any use of that paint sealant warranty ... Ironically, BMW Seattle's automatic wash did no damage to the paint, but the hand wash place did. I guess they wiped it off with dirty towels. Bastards!

OP, take your car to Metropolitan Detail. Let them know TJ sent you. They will take a look at your car and recommend what you should do. |

Call me a liar but Griots soap has a filler that eliminated my very very fine swirl marks that I received after taking my car to a wash in Arizona. PS nothing "removes" scratches unless you cut and buff but their are products that do fill them. OP if you dont believe me come to my house and well wash it with my stuff and you'll see exactly what I am talking about. |

Just had my car washed for free at BMW Seattle. No (additional) swirl marks and the car looks great! Now I just need to get rid of the annoying trunk lid and rear bumper scratches left by the amazing Genesis car wash people. Never again will I go to that freaking place.

Update: BMW Seattle took care of the massive scratches left on the paint by the good folks at Genesis car wash. They didn't charge me anything. So, big THANK YOU to BMW Seattle's detailing department.

Who did you talk to at BMW Seattle for this? Not that I have the same paint problem but seems like the person who helped you out would be a good SA to deal with in the future, and I doubt just any SA would help out like this.

I figured they should cover something like this since you did spend that $400. Swirl marks are kind of inevitable so I can't see them denying you repair.
