too many problems!!!

First of all I love bmw, but damn they are filles with issues. Thinking of trading it for a mustang 5.0

My car is in the service for the second time since i got it. First time i took it had to get the HPFP replaced.

Now i took it because, won't let me put it into sport mode i can only drive it in DRIVE

Also the car goes into limp mode in 5th and 6th gear when i press the gas peddle more than half way down (when the s/m use to work) and either gets the yellow engine light or the exclamation mark with the spike circle

i have a e90 335i 58k miles and the codes that i got were only have axle back exhaust

29f2
29e2
2a87
3100

Do you guys know that it could be? Thanks

Garage List
What year is your car? We can at least know if we're talking about an N54 or N55 then.

Otherwise, Google says 29F2 and 29E2 seems to point to injectors, HPFP, and/or LPFP or a sensor somewhere along the way. 2A87 and 3100, when they come up together, seem to point to the VANOS solenoids.

Not speaking from personal experience, but that's what Google told me anyway.

Good luck!

Ditto,

Sounds like something fuel related. If you just had the HPFP replaced, may be time for the LPFP and/or injectors

The S-Mode issue is a fairly common thing. The wires break and have to be replaced/repaired.

I traded my 2008 335i in on a shelby and regretted it from day 2 after 14 months went back to a 335i

Don't make the same mistake I made

Most owners that get 2a87 try cleaning and swapping positions of the vanos solenoids first, then replacing them if that does not fix it. Replacing both of mine resolved the 2a87 and it hasn't come back.

If replacing the solenoids doesn't get rid of the code then it's possibly your cam bearing ledges. If you're due for a valve cover gasket replacement then that would be a good time to replace since you'll already have them exposed, you'll just need the timing tool to complete the job.
