Painting stock calipers red, ricey?

This weekend I will probably be replacing my stock brakes with StopTech drilled/slotted rotors and Axxis Metallic pads and I thought it would be a good time to have my rusty/peeling calipers a good paint job.

Looks like the original color was gray but I really wonder how they would look like in red along with my Space Grey/Coral Red combo.

What you guys think? I'm the type that couldn't care less if they look ricey but I really don't want to push my luck either. LOL

Ohhhh now I gotcha lol

Yea, that is true and I believe the BMW Performance BBK also comes in red too. Well, I guess red it is, even if it's a stock caliper.

I was going to do my stock calipers black, just because I have other black parts on my montego blue. Just havent got around to it. I think the painted calipers looks good.

I also thought about black for the same reason. I have black grills, mesh and window trims but the way I see it, black calipers might look like calipers full of brake dust! Haha

So putting a red Brembo BBK or red BMW Performance BBK also make it look like a Civic?

On a 335 or up model it would work IMO- better have an aggressive setup if you wanna flash them colors

Yea, I see what you mean. If you are gonna make it look aggresive, better have something to back it up. I guess that's what really makes the whole Civix rice thing come about. Well, I do have a 335 with sports package but no real performance mods such as tune kits, DPs, exhausts ans such. I'll take a chance and paint them red and see how they look. Worst case scenario if I don't like the look, I'll just repaint them black or gray.

This.

In other words, there’s a huge difference between a quality BBK and painting stock single piston brake calipers (and sometimes rear drums too) in an attempt to make them look like a BBK. The bottom line is that NOBODY has ever confused this DIY painted caliper look for a BBK. Whenever I see this fake BBK look on a car I take it for granted that the car is owned by a Radically Immature Car Enthusiast. IMO, the faux BBK look worsens exponentially as wheel diameter increases too.

No one is talking about trying to make a stock caliper look like a BBK. Very far from it. You do know that BBKs also come in gray and yellow as well, right? So by your logic, even if I paint a stock caliper gray as it comes from factory, that's being a rice? I guess your suggestion is to leave it as-is with all the rust and stock paint peeling off?

Zackly, heck they come painted by factory! It seems like some people think just because you paint them red, you are trying to imitate or pose as them being Brembos or something. Of course anyone who knows anything about quality BBKs will be able to tell them apart, but some of us simply like the sportier look.
