Has anyone seen any improvements with this update?, specifically with email notifications? Will be looking at connecting later in the day.

BMW update may address the issue, I think the next one is in March

Well at least it looks like we should be able to jailbreak iOS 6.1 untethered in about a weeks time...possibly Sunday

I have not mostly out of fear that it will just cause problems to my 5. It's supposed to fix all the issues that most iOS users have been having, but best to wait and see

What's up with your Bluetooth audio? That's been flawless for me on the iPhone 4, 4S, and 5.

OP, it looks like there was relatively recent update to the iDrive Bluetooth software. Head over to www.bmw.com/update. The changelog lists improvements in delivering emails and text messages to iDrive from iPhones running iOS 6.

Yes, I have this update. There is an issue with emails and notifications, I have, and I am sure all others need to toggle the alerts prior to entering the car to enable the email in iDrive, just thought there may have been an update to MAP, this isn't terribly annoying but a bug nonetheless

Ok, just a suggestion. Unfortunately BMW doesn't post release dates on those updates, but I don't remember that 1006 update from before, so I'm going to install that. I've noticed text messages occasionally don't show up on whatever software I'm running now, and this update specifically mentions improvements for that (so do the earlier ones too though....) I've heard about the email notification issue but I don't use that because I'm plagued by email for enough hours of the day as it is, and I definitely don't want to ruin my car by turning it into yet another conduit for that onslaught.

This involves a pain in the ass process of forgetting the phone, then rejoining it to idrive all over again.
iPhone 5 running latest iOS.

Apple is interesting, I would think that it's so big, BMW would accomodate users and make the car work around the device. I'm not an Apple fan but I do have a iPad 4 4G that my co. gave me to use. I was really surprised how the bezel has this big gap, rather surprising quality-wise. I prefer not to use it, so I leave it home and watch SouthLAnd on TNT's app a couple times a week LOL

For a phone I have the razr maxx and all I can say is it works. Not exciting, but works all around....

I hear that, haven't upgraded my phone because I didn't want to give up that adapter, I've read they won't have it until June/July

PC or Mac?

Did you try a different USB port?, are you using a hub?

Yes, all 4 USB ports, and its a PC, and were running a switch.
