Webby`s E92 330D build thread

Hi Guys

Been doing alot of research on here of what E92 to buy, always wanted one since the day it was realised and now I was finally in a position to buy one! From coming from a MK5 Golf GTI i wanted something cheaper to run due to buying my first house. However all threads seemed to point towards a 330D. Turned out to be the perfect choice for me i love it!

Was looking for a months and one finally dipped into my budget so i snapped it up.

My old GTI

After a long drive home with a massive smile on my face I gave the new beast a good clean! Was pleasantly surprised how well its been looked after, couldnt find a mark anywhere!

After a couple of weeks the mod bug hit me and in came black grills, should come like this out the factory!

had a bad month with both rear wheels cracking in 4 places then a clip coming off my fuel filter which resulted in this

There was light at the end of tunnel as it pushed me forward to a few more changes, After alot of recomedations of CM Wheels on here I purchased some gunmetal CSL wheels to replace the cracked MV4`s. Done a bit more reading and got the white angel eye bulbs from Horizon Led`s. Well impressed with the difference. My V5 finally came back so I added my shortened personalised plates too!

Next plans are a high kick performance spoiler, ditch the run flats and a map of some description, just cant work out whether its worth removing the DPF or not?

Advice on this?

I also have a 325i. The 325i is a nobbled 330i. A new intake manifold and remap will give you 330i performance. I'm waiting on MStyle booking me in to get this done. Can't wait.

LCI back lights are a good upgrade option.

Next update isnt a good one

My car either got keyed or something blew over it plastering the car with scratches!

I didnt take too many photos as i was too angry but here are some examples of the damage, nearly every panel had them except bumpers and bonnet.
All the scrathes were down to bare metal!

A few weeks later after being unsure on what the best course of action was, (almost got a wrap) i deciding new paint was the best option so off it went.

Which left me this beast of a car to drive around in for a week or so
Slowest car known to man!

Luckily before I knew it my car was done!

Decided to get a couple cheeky extras done while the car was in paint which consist of a new performance diffuser and spoiler, managed to get the diffuser new for 107 from BMW!

I am extremely happy with the new look...

Think they are just held on with clips and can be pulled off. You can get replacement chrome and black chrome tips

Car is looking great Webby! What on earth caused caused those scratches??? :-O
Personally I have considered and opted against the DPF delete, particularly if there isn't anything wrong with it. Whenever I've seen our cars without them, they have smoked quite a bit and smelt bad.

They simply pull off. Did it to mine last week and gave them a good polish with autsol and wire wool, came up like new!
They can be a bitch to get off but just twist left and right as you pull (very very hard) and they come off. You'll probably find loads of little stones in there too, I did.

Car looks great, the rear diffuser is the nuts!

I gave pulling mine off a go (Along with a tap from a hammer) and as you said loads of stones came out, my car had an annoying exhaust rattle which is now gone!

Grills I got from a bmw dealer on ebay. Around 70 from memory, I can find the link if you like?

Shaping up very nicely! Those scrapes were very strange, I wonder what caused them. Did you get a full respray?

Yeah all the scratches are completely random to each other.

I haven't taken a picture of all of them but in each panel they are in different directions and patterns.

I cant see some one keying it going into this much detail of making them all different.

But then again if it was the wind I would have thought they would all flow over my car in one direction as if something has been blown over it !

Virtually all my car was painted, insurance company only let the body shop paint the effected panels so the bonnet and bumpers were left out. I then paid extra out my own pocket to have the diffuser done at the same time.
