I see they are new features on jb4 g5 board. What are they?

2 step is another name for launch control its like a second rev limiter but only for when your not moving and have the clutch in and can be set to whatever rpm you desire. No lift shift is where when your going to shift gears you don't have to let off the gas pedal you can keep it to the floor keeps turbos spooled up usually only used when on the track or racing. Same for the 2 step, hope this helps.

OK... I read a technical paper by BMW engineers where it explained that the N54 does not cut boost during a quick upshift, it cuts ignition timing. So I'm not sure what the purpose of that feature is.

How do you avoid revving past redline on a no-lift-shift? Does the software just hold the engine right at redline until the clutch is engaged in the next gear?

Well on procede when your doing no lift shift its limits to 2000 rpm, but before it gets down that far you should already be in your next gear with the foot off the clutch.
