Just noticed something about the motive mods website, verbiage is:

This German engineered kit is completely Plug-N-Play and will replace the OEM steptronic shifter with an illuminated BMW DCT shifter. Time and effort was taken to develop a circuit board, which allows for OEM like functionality and permits the shifter to turn off when the vehicle goes to sleep. This is a very important feature, as it prevents the vehicle from having high battery drain issues, which can lead to costly replacement of the battery.

Then read this e90 members post in FS from last year:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ht=cut+shifter

$175 + shipping...Have a used DCT Shift Knob and is completely Plug-N-Play and will replace the OEM steptronic shifter with an illuminated BMW DCT shifter. Time and effort was taken to develop a circuit board, which allows for OEM like functionality and permits the shifter to turn off when the vehicle goes to sleep. This is a very important feature, as it prevents the vehicle from having high battery drain issues, which can lead to costly replacement of the battery.

!!The DCT Shifter Retrofit Requires Shortening Of The Metal Shifter Stalk!!

Someone is cutting and pasting!

Looks nice, only problem is that it don't have the release button so it's a bit risky if you are braking and something hits the stick forward: reverse in speed, not a very good idea.

I've been looking for someone to make a replica from this shifter, with release button and a logical gear pattern on the stick, just like what they made from the old "joystick".

I'd buy that for sure

Is there any way to reverse the shift mechanism on the stick? I.E. Up shifts Up, Down shifts Down? I hate the reverse set up.

When you chopped the shaft to make it shorted. How does the new gear knob attach?

Looks very good!
