E9X production numbers- Manual vs Automatic

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I was told that 97% of e9X 335i 's have automatic transmissions, and only 3% are 6mt. While I bet there are a lot more autos, I find those numbers hard to believe...

I did some research on BMW's production but couldn't find any definitive answers.

I'm specifically looking for N54 335i production numbers of autos vs manuals, but if anyone has other info inline with the general topic please share. Thx!

I don't think BMW publishes this data.

As mentioned, BMW doesn't publish sales numbers for things like auto versus manual versus smg. However, ISTR an interview (that I wasn't able to find) by a BMW exec saying that 3-series is below 10% (that was a year or two ago before the GC and 4-series was shipping - mostly w/o manuals.)

Here are a couple I found...

Wikipedia has the numbers for different style E9X, but I don't think the transmission production numbers are listed.

If BMW gets rid of the MT, my finances will definitely improve because I won't be buying new BMWs. I'll just have 10 old BMWs for the price of one new one.

Nice finds! In the first article I saw this quote- "...we really saw a pretty small demand, somewhere around 1-2% for manual transmission." I believe they are referring to the X series, which I'm sure has less demand than a 3 series, but still interesting. The majority has to be auto's, I just want to know by how much.

I wonder if our 6mt cars' value will go up as they start to diminish production...

In the US, the AT/MT ratio is probably higher than anywhere else in the world...

Based on all of the E9X I see on the road, my guess would be a 9-1 ratio. Maybe even higher.

When I was looking for my e93, the sales guy told me, probably 1 or 2 in 50 convertibles was an M/T.... given the difficulty and distance I drove to get one, it can't be too far off.
