Question about trade-in my 07 335xi for 12 328i

Hi all

(maybe the guys from the F30 forum have just too much money and they don't understand what a limited budge means :-)

Here is the deal:

I got a 2007 335xi with 67K miles, fully loaded, extend warranty will expire next month.
Nav
Sport pkg
Cold pkg
Premium pkg
Auto

And I saw this great 2012 328i RWD (not xdrive)
Black on blk
Sport line
Auto
Cold pkg
Bluetooth
That is it! no nav, no sunroof, no Xeon, and NO Paddle shifters (which kills me!)

The car has 14k miles and i got its price down to 33k

So here is the deal:

33k for their car
- 19k as trade in value (which I think is low)
14k difference

Is this a good deal? Should I wait till I have more money to get car that has nav and moonroof?

Im afraid that later on Im stuck with the car due the fact that it does not have all those options + I live in Boston (which IMO the snow tires can get me around just fine)

Pls let me know your opinion as this car may go fast!

FYI
What bugs me the most is really the moonroof and the Paddle Shifters.

In resume, it is not my dream car but is what I can afford and looks great, the question is, it is worth?

I did a research on cars.com and autotrader.com and it is the only 2012 328i with sport package below 35k

Slap me on my face and tell me it not WORTH IT and I'm tripping about the new body style + the sport package and nothing else.

THANK YOU!!!

it baffles me to no end that you didn't even mention the difference between the motors during your expounding upon your thought process

The interior design on F30s is a bit busy for my tastes. But if you want one, just wait a few months. You'll have more choices as the market expands. Or, you could search for a dealer demo/loaner.

Yea, no way id give up a 335 for a 328 (no offense to 328 owners) .. and your warranty expiring means you're just getting to the point of being able to have some real fun with the 335.. take 1/10th of that 14k difference, put it into a proper tune, intake, intercooler and a tank of 50/50 e85 and you'll be wondering why you even started this post

If you want to trade something, trade the IS250 in for an ISF

If I could slap you from here I would.

I'm assuming you own the 335 outright. If yes, I can't honestly believe that you're seriously considering downgrading to a car that is uglier, slower, has fewer creature comforts, AND will bring you a monthly a payment.

Not to mention that you have very few miles on the 335 for its age. If the warranty is what worries you then start making a 'monthly car payment' to yourself as a repair fund. Short of engine failure it will cost you less to maintain your 335 and keep it running than it would to buy the F30.

With all of the missing equipment you will be back on here again looking to get rid of the 328. Stick with what you have until you find something better.

Garage List
Just as reference, I casually talked to a BMW Dealer about trading in my car. It is;
- 2007
- 335i Coupe
- 50,000
- AT/Steptronic
- Sport Package
- Convenience Package
- Comfort Package
- Dakota Leather
- Bluetooth
- MINT condition

They offered me $16,000

So in comparison, your 19k for trade in is not bad.

No Way would I trade my 335 for any 328. I've driven plenty as loaners and there isn't anything special about them. No offense to 328 owners but the motor difference is huge to me, as well as the driving experience E90/92 vs. F30.

Eveyone from the E90 post hate 328i... I know it does not compare to the power you get from the 335i

Yep... I will be looking for somthing else at this point.

Own a 2008 335i. it was in the shop for two days and they gave me a '12 328 as a loaner.
The only thing I liked better on the 328 was the Nav/heads up display. I don't have nag.

The steering on the 328 didn't feel "connected" like every other BMW I've owned.
The engine felt like it had to work real hard compared to my 335.
328 had more road noise.

i wouldn't take a '12 328 for trade even if it was an even trade.....
That being said, why would you OP, want to trade your car + $14k for a lesser car?

Yeah, I live in western MA and it's almost worth the drive to slap you.

This is a huge waste of money for a lesser car. End of story. Are you just worried about the no warranty?... If so, take a quarter of that 14k and buy an extended.

lol...none (offense) taken. But yeah...there is no point of going from bigger(powerful) engine to a lower one.
