DIY awesome $11 mod

This is for upgrading your puddle lights. I found a great deal on projector lights for puddle lights. $11.13 and free 2 day shipping! I'll post a link at the bottom. The projector lights display a colored BMW logo onto the ground when the doors are opened.

The projector lights came in well package. They come with the housing which makes it a very very easy plug and play installation. They also came with a free gift which was a pen that doubles a small ruler which i will stash away in my glove compartment.

Some may find the projector lights tacky but I think they look great and everyone who has seen them has complimented me on them. They are the only good part about getting out of the car!

Instructions:
1) Open door
2) insert flathead into slit on existing puddle light
3) Pop out puddle light
4) disconnect the light from connector
5) Plug in the prongs from the new projector puddle light into the holes on the connector
6) Tuck in the wires and pop the housing of the new projector puddle lights into the mounting hole
7) Enjoy every time you open your door! (When it's dark, that is)

Some side notes:
- I have heard from reviews that the image of the logo may fade over time. This didn't concern me since i have my oem housing with a very recently upgraded led bulb should the projector stop functioning and they are only $11 so I can easily buy another pair.
-They look amazing when the street is wet!! The logo sparkles like diamonds
-When installing, make sure to rotate the projector to properly align the logo projection to your liking.

I'm not a 100% sure that I like this mod but I surely don't dislike it. It's a cheap reversible mod that can be fun for a little while. Plus, it's not like it'd be seen all the time anyway and can be something of a conversation starter.

Saw this on a mini the other day, they actually look pretty cool in person but I wonder how old it would get. I guess I don't drive at night a majority of the time.

For $11 why not?

This is for everyone who has a pre lci e92, I bought a roll of red tint off ebay and "red out" the white part of the tail lights. Nice change for only 2 dollars and around 30 minutes.

Edit* sorry for posting in this thread, I thought this was the thread for cheap mods.

That sucks. Was it a color completely different or not the right shade of red? When I ordered mine, I was afraid the color would be off but luckily it turned out well.

There is also a service that will do custom images for these projector lights. So if you have a sports team logo or anything else you are interested in getting, it can be done!

I quite like that look of the tail light..could you possibly forward us the link you used to buy the tint from eBay? In order to ensure the correct 'redness' of the film. Thanks!

Sure, this is the exact one I purchased. Only problem is that it comes from China.. I think I received it in a little less than two weeks so while it's a long wait, it's not the worst.

Sweet, thanks for the quick reply. Did you buy 2 of these and cover the entire light or just the white section? Looking forward to this project, as soon as it gets here.

I bought one sheet and used painters tape to copy the white part of the tailights. Then I transfered the copy to a piece of computer paper and cut out the shape and then cut out the tint according to that copy.
