Kcan Mod for 2007+ BMW?

Hi, after success coding my 2006 330xi along with some E46s and an E53 I tried to code my friend's 2009 325i. It was my understanding from my research that on pre-3/2007 builds that pins 7 and 8 needed to be soldered together and on post-3/2007 builds pins 7 and 8 needed to be separate so that the ethernet line does not interfere with the k line so I set up my cable according to this DIY:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=672940

The cable still works fine on my car but I could not get it to work on my friend's newer car. I opened up the cable, checked for wiring problems, checked driver software which is up to date and reviewed my .ini files in EDIABAS/BIN. From the looks of this DIY he was converting a cable that already worked on newer BMWs to code an older one, maybe they cannot be modified from the older version to the newer one? I've tried searching but can't find any definitive answers other than the pins 7&8 issue. I am running EDIABAS 7.2.0, NCS Expert 3.1 with E89 daten v48.1 on Windows Vista 32 bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Were you able to install the NCS in Windows Vista? It didn't let me install it once.

Yes, right click on it, go to properties, compatibility, then check run this program in compatibility mode for windows xp sp2 (or 3). This will not work on 64 bit vista.

I see so called "k+dcan" cables all over eBay and half of them look like the same chipset as mine and say they work with 1998-2008 bmw. I think mine was even labeled as k+dcan when I bought it. I guess I'll just buy that cable everyone else here did for $90 or whatever. Thanks for the reply btw, I thought that might be the case.
