Admiral Insurance renewal shock!

Well, the day has come - the Multi-Car insurance renewal for most of the family cars - 5 of them. Admiral did a very good job of taking my money over the last year, as various of the cars came up for renewal. They were particularly good over my kid's cars, price-wise.

I dreaded the renewal, as I fully expected to be stung hard, as Insurance Company's do.
Quite pleased now though, a total of 2300 for the 5 cars, two with young drivers, the Mundane-o with only one year NCB.
Done the ConfusedMoneySupermarketQuidco thing, and whilst some are cheaper, others make up for it, so it looks like I'll be stopping for this year at least.

Need to check the increased price as the OH is looking at buying a Fabia vRS to replace her arthritic Ibiza Sport. She drove the new Fiesta today too, but was unimpressed. Uncomfortable seats and the 125bhp version seemed as sluggish as her Ibiza 1.4!

That is a surprise! Me and the wife were with Admiral and just had our renewal 2160 for a BMW 325i and the wifes KIA piccanto. I'm 41 and she's 33, my wife laughed at the guy down the phone and then hung up! Got insurance through Churchill in the end for 1100 for both cars.

I would never accept Admiral's renewal price, always find it cheaper online and still stay with them. For example this year for my X5, renewal 700, paid 280.

Admiral's renewal price has been cheapest for me for 3 years running even with shopping around.
They insure 2 cars for me for the same money that everyone else wants to insure just one!

Agree, had exactly the same, got a new Admiral quote online which they stood by, saved 150!

I never understand why people take any notice of renewal prices, and always seem surprised/annoyed when its gone up from last year!
People don't seem to realise that renewal prices are there to take advantage of those who are too lazy to hunt around for quotes and just let it renew with the same company.

I've spoken to so many people who seem amazed when you tell them to get new quotes, then ring up your current insurer and they will usually match your new price.
They must make an absolute fortune from this!

Still a lot!!

Do you have points, no ncd or live in a dodgy area?

My 335i was £396 inc ncd protection (I'm 30)... Oh and mine is fairly modified!!

You want to do the multicar quote again in your Mrs name. Don't throw money away!!

Also topcashback have 78 CB on direct line. 78 on each policy mounts up, as does the 10% discount for the next car, and the next car, etc, etc

I'm 23 and on a 320 comprehensive I've just got cover with Admiral for 398. The nearest other quote was around 580.

It was cheaper too if the car was kept in the street instead of in a garage

Ooooh. I'll have to look into that when I get back.

I'm with Priviledge, and they were the best last year on the 335d at 600 all mods declared. Renewal came in at 550.

Went for a quote with directline, and they were 275. Half the price. Will be trying John Lewis too though, as they were by far the best with my Polo. But 78 CB would bring me down to under 200, which would be nice for a wheeled and mapped 335d.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm paying close to 2k with Diamond! I'm 22 though and live in London. But still!

I forgot to go for the cashback deal. Oops.

Anyway, I'm 33 just now, but live in the sticks. Well a small town of maybe a couple hundred residents.

I hate my low ncd

Got my renewel through a few weeks ago, they wanted 1850 for my 320D and my girlfriends VW Beetle. A quick call, they entered my details again and offered it to me at 1400! So just a 10 minute call and they knock 450 off the price!

Looking around anyway, I can get my car on its own for around 700 so I imagine my girlfriends with 7 years NCB on a 1.6 shouldn't be too hard to get cheap and save a few quid.

Its definitely all about full NCB, I got a fresh quote for the 330d ready for when I renew and it came out at 265!
I must add, I am 40, no points and live in a very very low crime postcode area

Send a message via MSN to m1bjr
This didn't take long to degenerate into another penis waving
'I got my insurance for this much' bollocks.

Who cares? It's meaningless.

No two insurance situations are ever the same, ever.

Next?

Actually I paid more than any of you because I can afford it.

So there.

Lol! Agree that no two insurances will ever be the same, but pretty much as a rule never accept a renewal price.

Three years on the trot Admiral's multi car renewal price was pricier than there own individual new quote prices for two cars, they always matched them when phoning, but is annoying to have to play that game every year.

This year another company came much cheaper on one of the cars, so kept one with Admiral (they couldnt match it) the other with another Insurer.

As long as you don't go dirt cheap the service with the 'big brand' insurers is much of a muchness should you need to use them. Price rules

I agree, comparing insurance is pointless, I was just agreeing that NCB makes a big difference
