Chipped Windscreen E92 BMW Coupe - Help

Hi my 320d has a chip in the windscreen less than the size of a 2 pence coin. I want to avoid going through insurance for certain reasons hence would you suggest I try these DIY chip repairs which are about 20, has anyone had any experience, are they any good?

Alternatively how much to Autoglass or any other company charge approx, ive heard 70? Also what is the standard of their finish, does the chip completely go? Surely a mark is left? If that is the case doesnt it make sense to DIY is with those chip repair products?

Any feedback or comments is much appreciated, thanks in Advance!!!

normally its 70 excess to replace the whole windscreen! surely that would be worth it rather than filling in the chip!

a 2 pence coin is a pretty big chip, they may say its too big/deep to fill and recommend a replacement

Chip repairs are free normally but Autoglass will charge your insurance which you don't want. They are not very good in my experience as you can always see where they are especially if they are in the eye line.I had one done in my E46 but it drove my missus mad cos she had to look at it every time she got in.New windscreen cured it and is really the only way to go.( IMO of course).I had a new screen put in my E91 cos it had 3 chips in when I got it(motorway miles).

Autoglass pressure filled a chip in my M3 screen and it was nigh invisible.

nigh invisible!! Thats what I mean but you know it's there and your eye is drawn to it every time you get in the car..like that little dent low down from the shopping trolley etc.My screen was 70 and got rid of all the tiny flecks that glass gets from motorway miles. So if your not fussy chip repair but if your anal about your car new screen.

Yeah true but only thing is I want to avoid the insurance route.

Can I ask you something off the topic, that pic is your car right, what do I need to replace to get those white angel eyes, my ones look more yellow ish. Is it just the bulbs that need replacing and which are better HID or LED?

Also do the angel eyes and the headlights run off different bulbs, I imagine they do since my headlights are a white whilst as mentioned the angels are yellowish. Also can I replace the front fog lamps with bright white bulbs?

Depends where it is on the screen. My eye wasn't drawn to it. You really had to look hard to find it.

I don't understand why you have to be so secret about it. hopefully you aren't implying you don't have insurance and declared it off road but you are driving around in it?!

How much does a new windscreen for an E90 cost?

Mine has a few chips that have had the resin treatment from Autoglass by previous owners but also has the flecks from motorway miles I guess. It's starting to annoy me a little so I'm thinking about replacing the windscreen.
