335i + JB4 going on the rollers next weekend

This will be my first time on a rolling road. Should I just fill up with V power and leave it on map , or would map 5 be better?

Also, the tune doesnt kick in until the oil is at the correct temperature. I have the JB4 set to indicate when its at the correct temperature and this usually takes about 10 mins from cold. Will the company know to warm the car up fully before getting a read out or should I inform them? There are a few of us going so I don't know how long the car will be stood.

What figures should I expect as I've read that the claimed gains on the burgertuning site are exaggerated? My car is completely standard apart from the JB4. I'm guessing around 340-350bhp but I have no idea.

UPDATE

My car has just been on the rolling road. I did two runs using map 5 and map 1

MAP 1
360.7 BHP (133 mph)
345.3 lbft

Map 5
375.4 BHP (142 mph)
331.3 lbft

So map 5 gives more BHP and map 1 gives more torque. I'm really pleased with the results and the car sounded great at full chat.

map 5 and v power for sure. Should be 360-370 I reckon easy.

I assume you'lll be driving it to the dyno shop?

Well leave early and go for a good warm up on the way. Do 4 or 5 flat out runs in third, say 30 - 90 mph to let the autotune settle in for the day.

Even if you're waiting for ages at the dyno place your engine won't be cold, so it will be hot in no time on the rollers and dyno operators always warm it up for sure.

Where are you taking it?

I'd be very happy with those figures. It a 50 minute journey to get there so it should be well warmed up.

I'm going to a place called Midpoint garage which is a Vauxhall tuners but I'm going with a group of VXR owners. My previous car was a VXR.

I've never really looked into map 5. Does it not reset and require another set of 3rd gear pulls after you switch the ignition off? I've always just left my car on map 1.

plus he does not even red the AFR ratios or any other data

he fried my ecu twice on my vxr!!

I've not been yet. Going Sunday 3rd March.

I won't be letting Ian loose on my car, just a couple of power runs. Luckily for me, Darren Wood is my local Indy

Use the fuel/map you run everyday.

No point going for big numbers if you never run that level of boost day to day..

On the other hand you could send some logs to Terry and work on a bespoke map 6 with higher boost in the midrange.

No, the 'auto learn' data is kept until you move off map 5.

I don't know how anyone could have a JB4 and not use map 2 or 5!

It's a bit like ordering the biggest juiciest double whopper. and then just eating the soggy tomato.

+1 It says map 2 requires downpipes.

Yes, to make the most from it sure, but in reality I can't see it doing any harm, especially in the cold weather.

I ran map 5 for ages with standard DPs on no issues, so map 2 will be fine.

Give it a go

I'm having two power runs so I'm thinking. Run map 5 on v power or Tesco 99 for a week and do the first run on map 5 and the 2nd run on map 1 to see how they compare.

I don't really want to run map 2 without downpipes. I dont think the cold weather would help map 2 as you need downpipes to allow the turbo to spool faster, but I might be wrong. I'm still considering getting downpipes anyway.

Am interested in the results too.

I have the jb4 and also have only ran the map 1 as have no other mods. Am tempted to try map 5 but have read there are very little gains if any so for the hassle of doing half a dozen WOT runs to set it up makes it a bit of a PITA especially when I change map back to standard most times I come to park up as my misses uses it through the day....

Not sure what our octane rating is compared to the US's?

Map 1 makes a substantial difference and can break traction at 100mph in this weather!

Map 1 boosts upto 13psi
Map 5: Autotuning map. Boost ranges between 12-17psi based on your cars octane, conditions, and modifications.

Put it on map 5. In low temps you'll undoubtedly make much more power. It is also safer than running map 1!

Switch on guage hijacking to portray boost on the dash..

Let us know how you got on, I got 320bhp running a larger intercooler and the JB+ tune set at 50%. Need to get mine back on the same rollers again to see what difference downpipes and more advanced tune has made.

So im putting my JB4 on this weekend, should I just start in map 5 for it to learn my car? I have an aFe exhaust and DCI already on the car, no DPs or IC or anything.

I think the RR makes a big difference, they chaps that did my initial dyno told me the figures they get from their RR is much more conservative compared to some....at the end of the day its really doesn't matter since its how it car feels thats more important. But I'll have the car back on the same RR to see what difference the more aggressive map and downpipes have bought.

In theory, map 5 should give you more power given the cold weather and your mods. Just make sure you use a high octane fuel to get the best out of it. Map 1 is still a huge difference.

Make sure you have DCT activated (You can set the JB4 to automatically engage DCT on start up) or you with feel the car continuously cutting the power to prevent wheel spin.

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on some downpipes. I just dont know whether to get the Raceland 2.5" or pay extra for the 3" VRSF? AR design are out of my price range.

Racelands are $261 delivered and VRSF are $470 delivered. I don't suppose anybody knows how much import tax I would have to pay?
