how do you mount!!! - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Just been watching Superpole for WorldSuperbikes and it struck me how many riders get on from the right side.Now i find it impossible to do that and it has to be the left/nearside for me.Is it a right /left handed thing or what?

Maybe it's whatever you get used to on a push bike, it was always left for me too & I'm right handed

Could it be to do with what side your country drive on. If you park parallel to a curb here and get on the right then you are standing out in traffic. Getting on the right is weird to me as well but in certain circumstances I would.

I always used to get on from the left.. Reason for me was getting a secure grip on the bars with the left hand, if you're off camber or unsteady the twist throttle grip on the right just could be something to push the bike past balance point..

Bike racing they are normally on paddock stands or bike being held... If road bike most if not all side stands on left so lends itself to get on from left as well..

Chicken strips are always smaller on the left side of the tyre as well so I obviously prefer left hand bends to right.Not that my chicken strips are all that small these days as I am definitely getting to the geriatric stage....hence a nice comfy VFR.

I used to mount my bike from either side and I can't remember if there was any reason for the choice - unless it was as simple as which side I happened to be standing at the time.

Mind you, from the thread title alone, I thought the subject matter was going to be something different.

I always prefer mounting there from the left too

Left handed mounting for me.
I'm currently sporting a Vespa so chicken strips are fully in tact as can't get it fast enough to get a knee down..
