Need steering angle sensor check/recalibrate near Portland

Hi Folks,

I'm in Portland; I have new CEL which my Carly is saying is the Steering Angle Sensor. Obviously all works well except the CEL that I keep resetting and hoping will go away--but it won't.
Wondering if anyone has the other programs to check/calibrate the Steering angle sensor in my E90 335 2011.
I really don't want to go to the stealership so if you have the means, I could stop by, and bring a small donation for your time.

Do you have idrive? What is the description coming up on it? DTC malfunction? I'm not sure if I am talking about the same thing but if so, the sensor is most likely fine but there could be a build up of some sort that may be affecting it. Do a quick search and some people have fixed the issue with a penny or something. I had this issue with my 08 and searched around the forums and found that other members were having the exact same issue. There was a couple of threads that solved the issue using the penny method.

I actually had the misfortune of getting myself a steering angle sensor code and dash warning after changing out my steering fluid by hooking a clean reservoir of fluid to the intake side of the steering system and placing the other end into a waste tank and then turning the steering wheel back and forth (lock to lock with the car off) many time to pump out all of the old fluid and replace with the new (did this until the fluid come out the return side was crystal clean). The I put i new reservoir in and topped up the system. The process overall worked well but somehow during that process I upset the steering angle sensor gods and could not reset / clear the codes with the Carly app.

I ran into a post that suggested centering the steering wheel and then disconnecting the battery (negative terminal) for 30 to 45 minutes. I was pretty frustrated so I was up for trying anything and it worked surprisingly.

After 45 minute I reconnected the battery and started the car. I turned the steering wheel lock to lock (all the way left and then all the way right) 3 times with the car running and that re-calibrated the system and the error was then gone.

If I had BMW's Active Steering this may not have worked but in my case it did the trick. Obviously in my case I just had thrown something out of kilter during my turning the wheel back and forth during my fluid purge / replacement process and nothing was really worn, broken or dead in the system. Anyway, the above may be worth a try...
