difference between the $250 and $100ish angel eye bulbs?

What are you getting for the extra money you are paying for Lux angel eye bulbs, for example?

I am looking at upgrading the bulbs in my e92 and having trouble justifying 250 for bulbs despite the good reviews.

The difference is $150.00. All kidding aside you get what you pay for. LUX are the best on the market, the cheap bulbs should last a year then will need to be replaced. The old saying is you get what you pay for.

To be fair on your statement one of my LUX failed 14 months after new (Car had a little over 6000 miles) and I had to pay $40.00 to fix.

The LUX is a great replacement but I would expect to get more than 6000 miles out of them. If mine fail again I am going back to OEM.

That seller has almost no feedback since the middle of last year...but thanks for the link...that's even lower than I have seen them for previously.

There are many sellers who sell the Cree 20w versions of these. They are all the same product.
Wold never spend the money on lux, and prob wouldn't of gone custom LED rings if these had been out when I got them.
My friend paid 90 for the ones in the link, so it's am even better deal at the 60isj It is now

Im looking for the same thing, you can pick up a pair of mtech bulbs for 180, 70 bucks cheaper than lux and they are just as good. Thinking about picking up my pair soon.

If you're handy for $250 you can do a ring replacement that'll blow any plug and play kit out of the water.

I am the least handy person I know. Nothing comes apart or goes back together easily for me.

That video on youtube where the guy changes out this bulb with one hand is part of the reason I am interested in upgrading bulbs.

Upgraded bulbs are pure garbage compared to LED replacement.

It's just not worth the money to me...it looks cool but in a few years I will get an LCI e92 if I don't switch to something else...

I ordered the ebay bulbs linked above and will post pics and a review after I get them.

Had the $100 ish ebay bulbs and they sucked - didn't light the outside rings, not as bright and burned out after 3 months. LUX definitely are by the far as the LED's go.

GP Thunder 8500k $18 bulbs are actually better than the $100 ebay led's. Basically if you don't want LUX, the next best bang for the buck is just the GP Thunders.

If you really want to do it right though, LED Rings are the way to go!

We have done some extensive comparisons and found Lots of differences.
- the others are not fuses so if there is ever a problem they could overheat / explode / damage your electrical system
- They do not protect against EMI and will cause radio interference
- they dim to about 1/3 brightness when the headlights turn on

I just ordered and received a set of LEDs from BMS for $89 before shipping and tax. I don't know where they get the LEDs that they distribute, but I haven't heard anything bad about them other than "They don't look as bright in the day". Since my concern doesn't lay with having them as DRLs, I ordered. Will update once I install them this weekend.

**I should mention I own an E90 for which I don't have the option of GP Thunders, Otherwise that would have been my alternative. I just can't find it in me to spend even the $200 for a set of Mtecs.**

I recently bought some for $85 and I am not very impressed. They are not very visible during the daytime, and when they burn out I will most definitely be buying LUX.

That would have been good info to get when I started this thread.

Oh well...the ones I got look like the same thing some of the other vendors sell so we shall see how they work once I get a chance to install them.

As I said, I'll post up a review.

be careful of the HID burning and yellowing the angel eyes though.

Never heard about them damaging angel eyes, from personal experience phillips hid kits last well beyond 2yrs. And although after several years the bulbs tend to go bad, the replacement ones run you $20-$30 most with another couple year warranty.

Not putting down the Lux as they are excellent quality, but if you want brighter HIDS is about the only way to go.

had the GP Thunders and they're not bad for less than a price of a drink at a bar...upgraded to the LUX and they're a lot better than the GPs however, if you want the best you should upgrade to an E92 LCI...I did! LOL

But seriously, if you're going for the < $100 ones try ModMy3 they have some CREE LED that are pretty awesome and a lot of San Diego chat members are running them since ModMy3 is local
