Where M performance cars stand?
Hi Guys,
Open discussion on where the M performance cars stand in motoring world. before i belive with the M550D MX60D cars, are only marketing stuff so people will go for high performance diesel BMWs but with the new M135i, I struggle to position this car with the rest of the M series and competitors first im thinking this is like a "S" series in Audi, and the M is like the RS and the AMG. But funny, most of the car reviews which saying this car not a true M car always comparing with RS3/AMG45 the true M competitors ![]() http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/T...AMG-2013-02-13 yeah just curious what people think of this M performance line |

It's available in Europe. I believe US will be getting the M235i next year.
I see it as a, smart, marketing tool to offer added performance over standard but not to the extreme of the full M models. It was bound to happen, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner with the numbers BMW is selling. [maybe that's why?]

I see the 3 and 5 door 1 series hatches all over around here in Germany, they're very popular. I would assume they would do very well in the states too but we'll probably never get them. If I could, I would import a M135i to the states for when I get back. I think the Bimmer crowd would love to see one at shows and such.

IMO, the automotive press like to goad auto manufacturers. Ultimately, consumers cross-shop based on price, because their budget dictates the car they can buy, not the other way around.

USA gets the 135is. Prob. old news for everyone. It's going to the states with M135i underneath. BMW decides hatchbacks won't do well in the states, and the same person decide coupe version won't do well elsewhere in the world. Just solid rumors when I crying why the coupe version doesn't come to Asia....
