BMS 3.5" Catless vs CP-E 5" Catless

What's up guys? I have decided to make the jump and get Downpipes for my 335xi. I currently have BMW Performance Exhaust, JB3, BMS Performance Intake, and BMS Chargepipe. Checking out a few different ones I have narrowed it down to 2. The 3.5" BMS Catless, and the CP-E 5" catless. Anyone have any advice on which way to go? They cost pretty much the same on the burgertuning website (400$), and also put down about the same power (20Hp 30Trq to wheels). I youtube'd both and from what I can tell, you can hear the turbo spool way louder in the BMS, but the CPE sounds way more raw and raspy. If any of you guys have either or I would appreciate the advice on which one to pick up!

I don't really know much about DP's, what is the difference between the sizes? An inch and a half has to matter in some way right? Power/efficiency/sound wise?

Not really. the main purpose of the catless dp is getting rid of the cat which is the real power/torque adder. All i see the 5 inch do is add weight which is never a good thing but i might be wrong.

The CP-E might sound deeper though from the bigger pipe.

I have the first ever CP-E and it sounds very nice. My friend has the BMS one but we have different exhausts so there is a significant difference between the sound. I couldn't tell you if the downpipe is the reason it sounds drastically different or not.

Here's a video of my downpipe + exhaust

Funny I actually watched all of your videos to judge the sound of the 5" pipe, only thing is like you said you have the Vishnu exhaust on there, I wonder what It would sound like on a stock exhaust. Your car sounds badass I wanted mine to sound like that, I have the Performance Exhaust though

I'm going to be selling my exhaust soon for a complete custom setup from downpipe back to accomodate some aero. Interested =)?

Go with the BMS 3.5" Bigger is not always better, especially on a smaller turbo not making a ton of power. Basically the point of a bigger DP and no cats is to get the exhaust out as fast as possible with the least backpressure. You are not making 900hp there is no need for a 5" DP. If anything it may actually hurt TQ across the board a tad with the larger DP.

Put it this way. On my Turbo 03 Cobra which runs a 76mm Turbo, which is way way way bigger then an N55 turbo, I ran a 3" DP and that car runs 9s easy. I would have benefit slightly going to a 3.5-4" DP but remember this car makes more then double to triple of what an N55 makes. Go with the 3.5"

Thanks for all the info man I appreciate it. If you think the 5" are took big, what about the AR 4" ones? Too big as well? Or the .5 Inch wont make a diff?

The 4" is fine. i ran the AR on my car and it was great. That was the only option for me @ the time or I would have went with the 3.5" Plus the BMS is much cheaper. The AR did fit great though.
