Is the battery cable is only in the trunk? Or does it go all the way to the fuse box?
If so id probably take out the usb.

Let us know if a reprogramming of the ECU is part of the recall.

Don't worry about it. I'm a BMW tech and it's no big if its in there. I've done them on a few with them still installed and it won't cause you any problems

all they do is just replace the negative battery line. No reprogramming is done. I left my JB4 in and there were no issues.

Same here. I didn't remove the JB4. They did have to get into the area behind glove box. They saw my USB cable for sure and did not mess with it :-)

Yeah I had mine done without any problems... it would be extremely difficult to pass my car as "stock" to a bmw service tech... they aren't that stupid

I left mine in as well with the USB cable ran and had no problems whatsoever. BUT I have a very good relationship with my SA and the tech that works on my car. Usually I will call my SA and ask him if I need to take it out depending on what the problem is.
