Finally retro fitted some paddles (pics and a basic guide).

Ever since I bought my 330i one of my 'to do' list items was to fit paddles and today I managed to complete it.

I bought a steering wheel off eBay for 150 posted - the leather on it was in great condition but I have a friend who retrims steering wheels for me (example of his work here - I sell them to s2000 owners - http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/8600...retrim-service) - so I got him to do the paddle steering wheel.

Got a brand new paddles off eBay for 45 posted - sold the paddles which come with the steering wheel (push pull buttons) on eBay for 30.

Fitted these to the steering wheel.

Basically to do the job is very simple - there are 2 wires on each paddle - one of the wires is an earth and the other is the signal, the signal wires need to go through the MF connector as this will have 2 spare pins.

I followed this guide - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=361439

I managed to get the wiring from the steering wheel down to the gear shifter without having to take any trim off which was a bonus - I fed some wire down the side of the trim then used this to pull the wiring from the steering wheel through.

I then connected the wires from the paddles to the wires on the gear selector as described on the guide above.

The other 2 wires from the paddles I then earthed onto the steering wheel.

Job took about an hour from start to finish as its quite fiddly but very simple.

Well worth the effort - took the car out for a drive and its nice to have the option of the paddles - I am sure the noviety will wear off soon.

If anyone needs any info or help on doing this please let me know as I am happy to help.
