Automatic Knock? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

325d Automatic - when coming to a start or stop there seems to be a single 'knock' made by my car just before the revs start to fall - sometimes it makes it then others it doesnt..

Any ideas as to what this could be?

Does it knock when you select drive?

Not that I remember, but it very rarely does when selecting reverse - say if I put it into reverse on 10 different days, it'll knock consistently on just one of those days.

My rear brakes are due to be changed soon - maybe it could be these causing a knocking noise?

Also: I should probably mention it has been remapped and has got about 74k miles on it

I could be a steering joint as it sounds when you both stop and move off.

Really need to isolate which corner it's coming from and get the car jacked up or better still on a ramp and use a pri-bar.
