E93 328i Belt Tensioner

Sorry if its a re-post. I did some search on belt tensioners before posting.

My car, e93 328i 67k miles, makes some noise in the morning.
I showed it to the dealership and the SA told me it may require belt replacement or the tensioner replacement.
Tensioners - Covered in extended warranty (deductible).
Belts - not covered in extended warranty.
My appointment is scheduled next week.

I just wanted to know if someone has resolved the same issue with belts replacement or the tensioners.
Thanks.

May not be the tensioner check to see if the pulley is starting to cock to the side are if the belt is looking like it's starting to slip off...Mines made a squealing noise so i checked under the hood and the belt was barely hanging on...I had it towed to the shop and they replaced the bolt that holds the tensioner in place..

Dropped my car last night at dealership and today morning SA confirmed its tensioner.
He also asked if I would like to get belt replaced since there will be no extra labor.
So I got the tensioner ($50 deductible) and the belt ($54) replaced.

Can you describe the noise? Belts can make a squeal or squeak. Tensioner can make a grinding noise or a knock.

hmm...thinking.
I believe it was squeak (morning only). Def not grinding.
May be they try to make more money out of warranty

But if they were replacing belt only, I would have paid for the labor (very high).
In this case I paid $50 extra and got both the things replaced.

The belt was replaced when they did my tensioner under warranty. I guess the failin
g tensioner causes premature wear on belt. Thus the replacement.

At least my dealer got something right.

Moreover, in my case, if they are replacing tensioner, I dont mind replacing belt since the car is at 66k miles.

the noise comes mostly during the cold start or when parked.
it could be belt or tensioner. But someone above said tensioner makes some different noise.

yeah, but i dont know if it might be something else, since it's only occuring when in park-mode.
did someone have that issue already?
