V710 issue
I know that there have been some discussions on this phone and the bluetooth connectivity, but I consistantly am having problems with the car recognizing the phone...
Every once in a while, I will start up the car, and for whatever reason, the phone is not connected through the bluetooth. Before everyone jumps on me, yes I have gone through the pairing procedure. The phone book has downloaded, I have voicedialing set up. Its just that every 4 or 5 times Im in my car, it wont connect. What am I missing? Is there anything I can do to ensure this will connect EVERY time I am in my car? |

It should be connecting automatically after first pairing it up, maybe a software update for your phone? Mine is from Verizon and they always have some kind of software update every couple of months.

I brought it in about 2 months ago for the update. The v710 I had was not accepting the new software, so they ended up replacing the phone and giving me a new one with the newest software at the time... It still connects most of the time, but it should every time I start the car up. Anybody else having a similar problem? |

Well, Im at my parents place, and went to the local Verizon Store here. They say 30 min to reprogram it and to give it the software it needs. I have no problems with that, and head to the BMW dealership right around the corner to check out some accessories I have been looking for...
Go back after 30 min, software did not update AGAIN. This is the second time ive had VW upgrade the software and it didnt take. The first time, they got me a new V710 for free. Saying that it worked, I was fine, and left without problems. It didnt connect every time, but did most of the time. Unfortunately, that is unacceptable for me. So Im back at VW, and the guy tells me that they will replace my phone for free. I told him the deal that I had already done this once, and it still is giving me problems. So to help solve the issue, VW is sending me the V815 for free now. As he tells me, the 815 was released partially because of all of the bluetooth connectivity problems the 710 had. So this should solve my issues once and for all... Lets hope so. V815 on its way :rocks: ![]() |

I purchased my car in Oct. & an E815 Nov. 5. Have had issues ever since. When the phone pairs, it works. Pairing worked great for about 1 week, then the car started spotty paring. Talked to Motorola so we decided to have Verizon replace the phone after 5 days. Second E815, same issue worked great for about 4 days. Took car to dealer while it was not pairing. They reprogrammed the car and paired up the phone with no problem. Gave it to me and before I left the dealer, it did not pair. Dealer worked on it the rest of the day and replaced the TAC unit and reprogrammed the car. Car worked great for about 1.5 weeks, then started sporadic pairing again. I am now taking it do the dealer again. I experimented with everything. It appears I can make it work consistently if I turn off ignition and make sure I take the phone out of the car. Then when I return, it works. Now, if I use comfort access to cut off the ignition or leave the phone in the car, then it does not pair, no matter what you do. The car has to sit for some time, then it will pair and work great. Obvious a BT issue with the car.

Go to the post "Motorola E815 and Bluetooth". I have worked on this issue since I bought the E815 in early November. Note the suggrested BMW unofficial fix. It still does not correct the problem. Hope this information is helpful.

I have the same intermittent issues with V710 Verizon and the E90 bluetooth. I think it's the car, not the phone. My phone always recognizes my BT headset... every time.

Well, I got the car back from the dealership today... and no fix...
The dealership had called BMWNA to find out about the problem and BMW's (paraphrased) response was: "We are currently working on a software fix for the V710 and V815 phones. This software upgrade will be available when the next generation software comes out." Maybe sometime within the next month or two this could come out and solve this flippin problem ![]() Last edited by bavarian19; 01-03-2006 at 07:18 PM. |

What about this new CIP 20? Isn't that out and shouldn't that fix it?

Nope... Here is the word for word description I have on my service record: Per BMWNA, there is no solution to this problem at this time. In final stages of software validation, will resolve soon. I would assume this means something is certainly in the pipeline... :rocks: |
