Wheel Offset Calculator doesn't take into account tire width - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Seems like the wheel offset calculator doesn't take into account tire width. I was messing around with the calculator, trying to see if a wider size tire would clear the strut ... by keeping the rim size constant but changing the tire size, but the calculator didn't recognize the clearance issues. (eg. stock rim, going from 205mm to 245mm, the calculator says "SAME" clearance). I went as far as choosing 345mm as the new tire width and the clearance is still the "SAME."

I think the calculator is only for the wheel and doesn't account for a tire size change. Found this other calculator to be more useful in visualizing different tire size + rim combos. http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

Do we know if we can go at least 215mm with no rubbing?

Correct. The wheel tire calculator on this forum does not take the tire width into account. I just use it as a guideline. I have built my own spreadsheets before and currently use CAD software to visualize different tire/wheel sizes.
