I am doing lots of tarmac rallying at the moment and didnt think I was a bad judge of grip. Im quite surprised at those tyre tests as I have had falken 452 and 453 on my road car and really like them. I guess you never really know unless you put them on the stopwatch.

Yes they paid their 160 towards the 2 wheels they damaged.

I'm paying for the other 2 so they all match.

Getting done on Thursday if I'm not snowed in.

Falkens are over hyped on the Internet IMO. I've never seen an actual good review apart from owners justifying their purchase!
Have you actually tried them yourself or just read reviews online?

I recommended Falkens to a mate with an Insignia after reading a lot of positive reviews on here about them. He said they are ok but not that great in the wet. I've never tried them and only repeating what my mate said about them with his car.

Its interesting reading all the posts about the falkens having run 452s for over 15k I have to say I have had no problems with them rain or dry.

Even after 20 laps of bruntingthorpe last summer they still grip very well in damp conditions.

I think you cant compare one tyre on various cars ie how it would be on insignia vs e90. In past tyres that i bought for one car did not fair as well on another I suppose its to do with setup, geometry and how the car drives.

In this case comparing tyre feel from a FWD to RWD car is not very fair. For example when I went from Contis on wifes Blcass to Falkens 452s the actual front grip felt better in corners wet or dry however road noise did increase a bit.

In mine I went from bridgestone rft 17" to 18" 452s and found them far more compliant and better at handling. With my heavy foot the rears certainly have lasted well

With regards mid range tyres I used to fit Toyo Proxies T1Rs to my old vectra. I honestly thought they were a great tyre and stuck to the road like sh!t to a blanket. Wear wasn't that great though. But I can vouch that mid range tyres are not always that bad.

But I don't think I fancy them on my 330d. I'm seriously considering conti sport 5's for my next tyre and ditching the run flats.....

I've had 453s before and they were great even in freezing condition. So grippy.

Using T1Rs now, very good again. Nothing seem to stand out, just seem to work and rides nicely. But yeah the 453s were great, just couldn't test how long they lasted before need replacing.
