Roof Wrap Help!

I took my AW e90 to my window tint guy to wrap my roof gloss black. The shop has done a decent amount of vinyl work including several full body wraps. We ordered 3M gloss black vinyl. During the installation the shop called me saying that they were getting hair line scratched when apply the vinyl. They were using the recommended application tool which is covered in a very soft felt. He contacted to distributer to confirm that he was using the correct application technique and they confirmed he was doing it correctly. He tried a second time with the same condition. Does anyone have any experience with this situation? Are we just being too picky and everyone has these fine scratches in their vinyl? I doubt everyone is driving around like this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Can you post a pic? Are they heating it? It shouldn't be like that unless the car is not cleaned properly or the installer has no idea what he/she's doing.

It's gotta be that the felt is too rough...no other reason it would scratch the vinyl.

Unfortunately I didn't have my phone or camera to get pictures when I saw it. I have to agree, it seems the felt is too rough. The applicator came directly from the vinyl supplier and had never been used (not that it could not be the problem, just surprising). The only other thing I can think of is that maybe he got a bad batch of vinyl. What suppliers have some of you ordered your vinyl?

3M vinyl is the best. I doubt the vinyl is the issue

If this guy is really in the business you would think he has more application tools and wouldn't rely on the one that came in your roof wrap kit. It oils take it somwhere else and say you want your money back and are not happy with the outcome

When i wrapped my roof, i just wrapped a cotton wife beater around a credit card and that worked perfectly fine. Didn't even need a 'special application tool'
