out-put tranny play

Wondering for those of you who ever messed/removed your driveshaft (I have done it 5 times note lol!). I am wondering if anyone knows or took note how much play was in the out-put shaft of the tranny?

There should be no freeplay in the trans output shaft/flange. It should rotate a little, but no side to side or up/down play. Did you find an oil leak in that area? I saw your 'oil smell' thread, maybe the oil is getting sprayed on the exhaust pipes right behind the trans and it only gets hot enough to burn after a full pull.

Yeah, that is the play I was referring to (it rotates a bit and I can spin the drive shaft a bit) there is no trace if oil anywhere...differential is bone dry, tranny area is bone dry & exhaust is bone dry. I am thinking it is brakes our stuck caliper because the smell was more notable on the passenger side...goes away pretty fast Like the brakes get hot then cool down. I did have the brake light come on a few days ago and reset it like usual lol!

man that sucks, can you measure the rotational play in the output shaft/quibo? How bad wad removal...how heavy is it? Doesn't look to be that heavy, with my differential I didn't even use a Jack...I held it in place...my wife screwed in bolts LOL!

maybe 100lbs haha i carried it like a cripple but i carried it!! pulled it out like any other transmission, there is an access hole for the tourqe converter bolts rotate the engine to other bolts, then all the bolts on the bell housing i removed downpipes as well. and had my exhaust and diff dropped just cuz LOL. used long extensions to remove the bell housing bolts, i wanna make a DIY but i was in such a rush to remove it i didn't take pictures..
took me 45 minutes after i got everything out of the way. pushed up the pulled back and it pulled right out.

i don't know if measuring the play when the trans is out is gonna be accurate because the tourq converter is out of it and its not connected to the engine. but if you want ill send you a video of the play in park. witht the transmission out of the car

HPF has a great clutch install video, shows all the steps necessary for trans removal. It isn't that hard but I wouldn't do it on my back.
