Best route to go up north?

From London to Leeds...

which is best, M1 or M11/ A1 m?

less traffic/ road works/ cameras etc

Probably more on where you are starting from.

West end go up the M1, East end go up the M11.

If your pretty central I like the A1(M).
I live in Norwich and come out of London up the Finchley road and then cut over at Letchworth.

Whenever I'm travelling to Leeds, I usually find the M1 to be okay - although I'm normally on it either pretty early or 2/3pm so miss the worst of it.

M1 I drive up and down uk daily I cover some times 2000 miles in a week I would go m1 as straight run up to Leeds and no working speed cameras not even around Luton on the over heads not saying speed just saying

I use the M1 but I do Leeds to London A1 is alot of dual carriageway further north and can get abit clogged if wagons are trying to pass each other

London too Leeds I'd guess about 2.5 hours on a normal run if the wobbles haven't closed a road on lane , the a1 is rubbish will take you a long way around , if your west London m40 the a43 across from Bicester j10 to Northampton m1 j15 will be just as fast
