Orlando Speed World

I think I'm going to Orlando Speed World tonight to race my bro's slightly modified Mustang GT and my friend's Cherokee SRT-8. It will be my first time at this track and my first time taking the 335 to the track. Does anyone know if they sell high octane fuel at OSW? My brother's and my car put a difference of 1hp to the wheels last time we dynoed so I think this will give me an edge and I see SRT-8s pull 13.2,3s so I need a little help with that.

yea they sell 100 octane there

FYI if your going you need the following or they wont let you race

closed toed shoes
long pants
15$ cash
bring a pen to fill the form out
bring (car) masking tape to tape off your number otherwise they will use shoe polish which is HELL to get off

if you have procede and will be running < 13.5 you need a helmet (though they dont enforce it very heavily)

the 100 octane probably wont do much and be a waste of money

are you really going, ill come race you

oh yea, and get there a little early if you want to get a lot of runs in

We are definitely going, meeting there at about 630. I don't have proceed....yet. Come out, cuz I would love to see the difference the proceed makes.

ill head out there and keep an eye out

stock i ran 13.5 consistantly @ 104

procede = more missed shifts then.. something that misses a lot of shifts so most of the time i run slower <_<

ok that is what im expecting, but then again I have little experience with a stick on the drag strip. Ill be on the lookout for your car, mine is black and I have a Georgia Tech license plate frame on the back. How did you launch your car? I hear around 1500rpm is good and to make sure you arent holding the throttle there so you are making boost.

depends if your looking to race ro get a good time, good time = ignore the tree rev up to 2k ish and right when its reaching there (w/o backing off the throttle) let the clutch out (and give it more gas obviously)

racing, might as well hold it @ 2k and launch when the tree goes off, youll never get the timing of the above right if your trying to launch with the tree

and in either case you dont just drop the clutch, you feather it, which is a fancy term for riding it

I hear that you need to let the clutch out on the upswing of the rpms, because if you hold it at a certain rpm there is no load which doesn't produce boost...

yea thats what i said to do if your going for the best time, but your nto going to be able to do that effectivly7 if your trying to launch w/ the tree

holding @ 2k doesnt hold boost yes, but reving to 2k produces less than 2 pounds anyway, the catch is the wastegates are on the way closed already which is nice

doesnt matter, its raining so it would be pointless to go to the track

wow.. this thread started at 3 and has 4 times more replies than the other poll thread....

georgiatech- I take it you got your car back up and running good??? thats good to hear...

wish i was in orlando to come out and play with you guys...

there are a few gas stations right before the track that sell 100 and 110 octane and they are cheaper than actually getting it at the track..
