Question about a possible run between me and my friend

So... I have a 07 e92 335i AT with procede v5, FMIC,DCI and my friend has a 11 WRX 5-speed MT with Cobb stage 2 and DPs, who would come out on top if we race from 40- 140? Any input would be appreciated.

You've got him all day. I ran a friends '13 sti with full Perrin exhaust, intake, and Cobb. I'm completely stock. From 35 to 130 I was right behind him while he slowly walked me (about 4 cars) lmao...you stand a much better chance with you set up in comparison

you would win from the 40 roll, but if from a dig I think he would get you if he knows how to launch his car. I think your car would run him down though from a dig. Call him up and get this settled.

I love Subaru's. Had a great legacy with a built motor and awesome tune. You'll kill him if your car is running well.

Is he the one that wants to go from 40? His advantage should be ripping you out of the hole. I think even 0-140 if you have a decent but not overly-aggressive launch that you'll drive around him. But 40-140 should be rape rape, and not just rape.

well... I'm the one that wanted to go from 40-140, cause he is my friend/co-worker, and I drive with him all the time almost everyday after work, and i know from a dig he would gain but after like 60 i will pull, but i never seriously raced him, and I have recently replaced all 6 injectors, plugs, vanos solenoids, and cleaned DCI and re-oiled them and with the red air scoop thing too. i personally think that he would win, since his car is a 2011(newer) and mine is 2007(older), and i know he can pull hard cause i rode in his car every other day.

Probably dumping the clutch improperlly. It may feel faster because of all the jerkyness and the fact that he has the drivetrain advantage which is 4wd. In the end 335i will take it. Bigger engine and more power and torque. Rwd has top end advantage too.

My friend also has an STI. He has dp's exhaust, intake, IC, and Cobb protune. Riding in his car we both thought his car would pull on mine too. We finally did a pull one day and I raped him( DCI, DPs, FMIC, catback, and GIAC stg. 2). It was bad... he actually just laughed it off. Looking back on it I beleive that scoobies feel wayyyy faster than they really are due to their gearing and cheaper build quality. He agreed with me on this as well. Our 335's (6mt) do more than 100 in 3rd where as i think i remember his STI will only hit about 85 in 3rd.

What does the age of your car have anything to do with anything?

I know 70's cars that will mop the floor with anything.

If he can drive low 13 and under 110 trap. There really is no concern here no matter how you cut the slice. Besides nobody can launch those things unless they are using anti lag or willing to rape their clutch.

The only make about about 325WHP, and they have horrible top end and less torque then the 335i will.

Here is an pretty decent launch using launch control:

A lot of the time the WRX and STI feel fast cause they have really short gearing. They do offer a nice pull until about 80.

Since your doing a 40 roll, you got this ALL day. You have more power, more top end, more top end torque.

You've got this for sure. I raced a buddy with a 2008 STI with intake and exhaust and I beat him (stock).

*Noticed you're from San Jose. You should come out to our Friday night meets and tell us about how you walked him.

agreed with everyone else. I still have (process of selling) an 04 wrx with an 18g turbo meth running 22psi etc it feels incredibly fast from gears 1-3 because of the grip, how light it is, and just the sound to be honest. But compared to my now FBO 335 40-100 wouldnt even be close. The fact that the n54 engine and tranny is very smooth and it is a comfortable ride makes how hard it accelerates very deceptive IMO

take a video when you walk him please haha

Riding in a car will feel totally different as well. There's something about being hooked up to the car and just being along for the ride. When I first started getting into racing I had a friend with an '89 Mustang GT, auto with some bolt ons. Every time I rode in it I thought "man, this thing gets on it". A while later I had a bone stock '92 GT 5-speed and kinda wanted to baseline my car so I asked if he wanted to run so I would get an idea of what I would need to beat him. My car didn't feel anywhere near as quick as his. Long, boring story short, my car would put about 10 cars on his to 120. Probably close to a second quicker in the quarter... I would say he legitimately had a 15-second car. Even our buddy's SHO would throw him a beating now and again. But I'll be damned if it didn't feel quick from the passenger seat. Sounded good, too. lol
