Owners of 335i's over 100k miles check-in

If you own a 335i with over 100k miles, what year, miles, coupe or sedan and what problems have you had? Overall experience?

Probably everything under the sun. Oil leaks, door lock actuators, window regulators, fuel pumps, possible fuel injectors, low pressure fuel sensors, control arm bushings, transmission leaks at the sealing sleeve, light bulbs galore, squeaks and rattles from interior components and engine, belt squeak, belt whine, abnormal tire wear, radio cutting out, battery(vehicle and keys), oh man I could go on with 335i's with high mileage. they're awesome vehicles.

Faithfully maintained mid-2007 build with 110K and all the usual suspects - HPFP, all six ignition coils, window regulator, mechatronic trans. sleeve, oil filter housing gasket, valve cover gasket, water pump/thermostat, battery cable/fuse panel. Plus a stuck brake caliper.

I consider myself one of the lucky ones

Still love the car!

How many times did u have to replace your ignition coils? Are you running a tune?

106440 miles. 2009 E90

All 6 coil packs replaced once at 70k
Replaced driver side exhaust (flap was always open due to vaccum issues- warranty took care of it)

Still on original HPFP and waterpump/thermostat.

Just regular maintainance as per BMW recommendations.

Replaced them all exactly once - first one, then another, then another (at that point I asked them to replace the three "good" ones). My car is bone stock.

Next Monday at the PAHK - 2 down, 160 to go!

How did you know you needed control arm bushings/new control arms? Loose steering wheel?

Valve cover gasket, spark plugs (premature due to valve cover gasket), oil filter housing, water pump, hpfp, lpfp, brake chirp, pitted windshield, broken headlight housing on one side, cracked windshield wiper hose, and heater core.

knocking noise when braking

or steering wheel will jerk left or right at low stops when abruptly braking

Well I have a June 2007 build with 76,000 miles and its been pretty good so far. I had to replace my oil filter housing gaskets and clean the intake valves in January. I had the HPFP recall swap done a year ago, even though the original had no problems. Some injectors and coil packs were replaced a couple years ago. Some minor stuff like bulbs and brakes have been replaced. However, now I've got a loud and obnoxious wastegate rattle. I'm going to need to get that worked on and hopefully the turbos replaced before I reach 82k miles. The only bummer about that is I should put the stock downpipes back on first, since that's a one shot deal and I don't want to risk the potential out if pocket cost for the 10 hours if labor.

10/06 build 335i, bought the car in 05/09 with 33k miles. The car now has over 104k miles and has spent its life in FL. The car has never had a tune and is completely stock.

Fixed under warranty by dealer before 50k miles:
Both front cupholders
Rear driver's window regulator
3 fuel pumps (last one that went out was 3 years ago at around 60-70k miles, so I think this last one is finally good)
Leaking transmission sleeve

List of items replaced out of warranty:

Valve cover gasket (had a forum member do this)
Right xenon bulb (did it myself as a DIY for 70 bucks, could be considered a wear item)
Driver's side front door actuator (did it myself as a DIY)
Front windshield rubber molding / trim (old rubber rotted and broke apart, done as DIY)
Rear driver's window regulator (DIY, went aftermarket this time)
Sport mode shifter signal cables broken (had an indy shop fix it)

Other high mileage services done recently:
Transmission fluid / filter change
Valve cleaning (done by forum member, this made a huge difference, it had never been done before)

I didn't include the regular maintenance items like oil changes, spark plugs, or filters. If you use the forum as a resource, you can do a lot of things yourself that would kill you at the dealer. Unless the turbos or water pump start going out soon, I think the car has another round of just maintenance items for the next 40-50k miles. I drive 20k+ miles a year now (mostly highway), so I'm hoping this car will get me to 200k+ miles with proper maintenance .

Of course, now that I posted this the wheels will fall off on the way home .
