What's the science behind paint transfer fix?
So I have a few bumps on my black bmw, and from what I read it seems like most of them are paint transfers. I also saw a lot of product that fix paint transfer.
My questions is what is the science behind all those product that fix it? Do they move paint from other area to fix it? |

Clay bar, compounding, and polishing. Also, try a little goo gone on it. My garage opening is really tight and I have to fold the mirrors to get in. I forgot to fold them in, but luckily I was going slow and just tapped the garage door frame. White paint was on the plastic lip of the mirror, got the goo gone out and it took it right out.

Post a picture of it. Try the clay with detail spray, believe me. It should work unless its not paint transfer. Don't use the paint trust me.

The product types you cited are all abrasives, so they remove a small amount of paint.

Paint TRANSFER is fixed by removing the paint that was TRANSFERED to your car via some other item. So if you brush the white paint of your garage frame, it's usually less bonded to the wood than your black car. Things like clay pick up and grab those less-bonded paint particles and remove them from on top of the clear coat.

Missing Paint
This may be the wrong thread but, I am a rookie at this. So appreciate any help! The attached picture, if I did this right is of the trunk of my 2011 328. The area is that of the trunk lip, the panel above the license plate and where you open the truck from. Where it intersects with the trunk, at 90 degrees to the right. The trunk is open in the picture. It shows that there is primer showing through the paint, and my thought is that the car, when it was painted in the factory, this area was missed. The car has not been in any accidents and presently, the dealer is making inquiries to get it re-painted. You would not notice this unless the trunk lid was open, as I found it while wiping the car done after cleaning. Any one else experience the same problem?
