Well my independent was going to charge $147 to install and code the alarm. Since I will install it myself since it is plug and play, they cost should be around $100 or so. It depends on whether or not you go to the dealer or an independent. If you are comfortable doing the install, just call a few shops and find the cheapest option for coding. I just bought a new set of wheels, so I wanted the alarm mainly for the tilt feature and also the motion sensor. Some peace of mind. Hope that helps.

Don't forget to check your cars production date. Anything built after 4/09 I think will not be compatible. They stopped making it pre wired after that build date.
I got this info from Tischer when I tried to order one for myself. |

And what are the benefits of the alarm? Does it have sensitivity adjustments where when people get close/touch the car it will beep at them and stuff? |

check your vin at an online decoder, here is one
http://www.rubmw.ru/vincode/eng/ my car had as one of the items listed S5GAA ALARMANLAGENVORBEREITUNG Preparation alarm system If the issue is that they deleted the alarm prep, then if you have the above it should work. If BMW went to a different anti-theft system after the break date then I guess the above is irrelevant. Does anyone know? The main reason I got the alarm was that from reading the owner's manual it implied that I could roll up the windows and close the sunroof by holding the lock button on the keyfob if the car was equipped with the alarm system - but it doesn't actually do that :/ Guess I need to find someone who's good with coding... |

Tischer has the whole kit for $265 and free shipping and I believe they're currently running a promo until the end of the month for an additional few bucks off... getbmwparts.com

Hah, I hate the "cool beeps" but as I understand it if you hit the lock button twice you disable the motion sensor so I left the beeps on so I have confirmation that the car is locked... old habit from driving a POS Chevy Impala company car, I would hit the "lock" or "unlock" button about five times when leaving or approaching the car... and I still lost count of the number of times I damn near ripped a fingernail off on those stupid flappy paddle door handles because the doors still didn't unlock @#$%$%#@#$5
