SI B18 04 12 SCR Metering Unit

SI B18 04 12, updated June 2012
Applies to: M57Y, veh. production Jun 2009 - Sep 2010
Replace metering unit (new design)
SI B18 04 12 - SCR Metering Replacement.pdf

In for my first service today. Tried to get the abovementioned item done, but they said it was done as part of SI B18 05 12 Emissions Recall. In Taibanl's sticky, the one above does seem to be superseded by it, but it's like they decided the metering unit did not need to be replaced after all, because the SCR metering unit part number was not part of the superseding recall. Anyone think it might be worthwhile asking again or asking BMWNA?

I will give a report on SI B13 04 12 (Program Control Units (OBD)) after I get the car back. They are supposed to do that one, which supposedly will update the transmission module among other modules. We shall see. I would have been interested to know what the techs think about all the new fancy suspension hardware underneath. Maybe they won't even notice, although they do have to lift if up to change the oil.

yeah, the m3 bits could go unnoticed peripherally, but those blue toe arms will draw attention for sure...just make sure you get back what you came with!

To the best of my understanding, the "umbrella" SI B18 05 12, calls for an inspection to determine IF your metering valve requires replacement along with other components....its general. In a certain sense SI B 18 04 12 is more specific in that it narrows down to a more particular date range WHICH production months require THIS replacement of THIS part. I wouldn't bet my life, but I would bet a beer, if you are within the range and they didn't replace, you still have the old design.
