P3 boost settings explained

In case anyone out there wants to know on an N55 how this works:

"The setings are all explained on www.p3cars.com/bmw-install

For n55 engine cars, there is no analog boost tap. But you also dont need one! The gauge simply reads directly from the obd2 port. The obd connection is all you need. Set the 2 settings as follows and you will be good to go:
bSt.d (digital boost)
n55 (engine type to n55)

This will tell the gauge that you have an n55 and to read boost directly over canbus (since the n55 has an actual manifold boost sensor worth reading)

Enter config by holding both buttons, press the rightmost button to switch config modes, press the leftmost button to change the value. HOLD the rightmost button to save and exit.

The install for n55 is extremely simple... just plug in the obd2 connection and config and you are done.

-Rick"

Thank you to P3 for their excellent support and amazing gauge- A+ for P3cars.com and all their support fellas. Going to try this later this am and report back.
Hope this helps others.

the PIII gauge is great IF you don't have a piggy-back tune such as the PROcede or JB4..... if you do have a piggy-back boost controller tune, then the PIII gauge will not read boost accurately. I spoke to Rick at great lengths about this when I was shopping for this awesome gauge, I was very disappointed in this fact

You can use it with a piggyback, you just have to run an analog tap to the boost sensor and set the settings manually on the gauge. Then never touch the canbus features cause those won't work. But if you're using it as just an analog boost gauge using a tape wire, it works great!

Have you service the car with the P3? If so what did the sealer say if anything at all?

Well the dealer that I see put it in for me
I won't disclose which one, but yea, they know about it. No issues!
I mean I could image an especially prickish dealer assuming you beat the shit out of your ride in the event a warranty repair is needed, but beside that, it isn't responsible for any modification on the car's core functions that would threaten the integrity of, or compromise the factory warranty. Just my thoughts.
