2011 BMW 335is  [3.03]
in the end it doesn't matter who it is NO ONE is going to be DD 600+ whp on the street, and you will probably NEVER enjoy 600+ whp on the street as you would 400 - 600 whp as a DD.

People should be looking at efficiency rather than dyno number.

All I know is this, Shiv I will break your track ET, and it will be done with less power, and possibly in FULL street trim.

I can't speak for all of our other single turbo customers, but I certainly enjoy daily driving a 600+whp BMW on the street. Certainly more than I enjoyed driving 400-600whp. Engine sounds better, pulls harder and is far more consistent than running twins pushed to their limits. But that's just me.

I have no doubt that my old ET will be broken eventually. Hopefully by us or by a customer. Seems reasonable since that record was made with 100whp less than we are making now in Captain Insano's car If you break it in your 335is, I'll be the first one to congratulate you!

Terry beat you all to it. He blew his engine at Shift-S3ctor. Unfortunately he did it at low power levels, so we don't really know how much power these engines can take when the tune is good and it blows just from pure power. But I guess we can say Terry was first FWIW.

Right..... Terry's engine was supposedly damaged by the tranny jumping out of gear and over revving.

Try revving your engine to 7400 rpm(if you can), and see if it blows even on stock power

I'm impressed the limits haven't been found yet. 700whp has to be close. What is the weak link? Are the rods forged? Or is it the webbing in the alum block itself?

I'm sure a lot has to do with where peak torque is and how it is ramped up...

i think its the pistons and rings.... and yes the rods are forged

Actually 600-700 is the street friendly limit from what Ive heard atleast after talking with a tuner that dyno's builds mostly mustang/camaros/turbo cars.

The people that come to him with 900+ say they had more fun when it was 6-700.

With a DCT?

People should be looking at cost as well as efficiency, since both kits can get you into the same region, power wise.

I'd have to agree. Anything over 700WHP is not too streetable unless you have something like a GTR, I would imagine.

I'd be content in the 600WHP range myself with the option of 700WHP when needed.

Street friendly provided the correct rear end to hold it down for those with lead feet in order to appreciate the fun, unless fun mean wipe out on occassions. The cars you mentioned, based on what I have seen, dont run around being cheap with 265 suplimented rears with that type of power.

Proper suspension, and tires can only hold to that other than getting taxed on the fuel. The trend around here is power rather than focusing on balance
