I'm trying to find a torrent to use full dl speed. Best i got is a movei which saw 7xx kb/ps but still the line should be fast enough for a few mbs!!

I used vuze, disabled window firewall, pc has dmz enable to allow full traffic without restrictions.
Max peers connection of 1000 but not sure why i cannot see mbs, some torrents aren even movining!!

53Meg Down
15Meg Up

When the engineer turned up he said "i've just came from the cab and it's quite far away you know"

He shown me the tester, it said maximum sync speed of 15.7Meg Down.

What type of engineer did you have, BT or contractor?

Afaik, the minimum that needs to be achieved is 15mb.

The fact that you got less than half could suggest 'star wiring' in your house.

Is the net installed at your main socket?

You can PM me if you want.

He worked for Openreach, said he has done for years.

I've only got the 1 socket in the house, it's a new build (3 years old now) so all the wiring should be spot on.

I think it's purely the fact that they never put a new cab at the start of the estate when they built it so it's running quite far to the nearest cab.

I still feel like i should get better than 13Meg at my distance according to this chart.

I bet BT won't give you the same 70% discount on the charges that they do on speed, I had their standard broadband with max 10mbps but an average of 1.0 but they weren't interested

I've seen someone 1.2 miles away still get about 30mb. But also someone just over 1.5 miles not be able to have it.

Spot on wiring and new build don't always go hand in hand. If anything it can mean its worse.

I've just called them, they done a test remotely that failed and told them there was a wiring fault and i need an engineers visit. I've got someone coming out on Monday 8-11.

He said looking at my line i should easily get 39Meg that i'm set at, so fingers crossed.

He shouldn't have left you like that. I don't want to start slagging someone off.

I hope you get it sorted. If you only end up with 39mb then go on the 40/10 package if its cheaper and you're not already on it.

What made you call them?

I think it's the failing of a few engineers to be honest, i've had a nightmare with my broadband since i moved in. I went months with 0.3mb until i could get Sky to send an engineer out and then he said the pairs weren't crimped correctly in the street! I got disconnected in the cab 1 time by accident, my pairs swapped over in the street so i was receiving someone else' calls another time. I need someone to come in and check every connection and make sure everything is correct once and for all!

I'm already on the 40/10 cus i thought i wouldn't benefit enough from the 80/20.

You saying someone 1.2 miles away with 30mb made me call them!
