CO Winter Tips - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Any tips for maintaing during the winter? I have a general idead but I hear last year was the worst winter CO has ever seen...and to be honest I'm a little worried....I guess I'll have to change my wheels

so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Welcome to Colorado!

Nice thing here in CO is that we don't use the salts on the road, so you don't have to worry about the rust that you get in the NE. That said, if you plan on driving the car everyday, you will get rock chips guaranteed. A clear bra may be beneficial to you to prevent the chips from reaching the paint. Also always carry a bottle of washer fluid in the trunk, it comes in very handy.

Definitely would recommend a dedicated set of snow tires (I run the Dunlop M3 Wintersports on my 5 series, and they are a very good snow tire, as well as dry tire). Oh, and don't ever turn off the traction control in the snow unless you want to go for a good spin (which under controlled circumstances can be lots of fun).

Last year was kind of a freak winter, and we don't usually see that where we have snow on the ground for such long periods of time.

I have the same Dunlops on my car and thought they did really well. They felt good when it was dry also. The DSC system on the car is excellent, as long as the snow is not rubbing the bottom of the car you should be good.

I have those Dunlops as well and they handle the weather in the Midwest quite nicely. Anything they can't handle you probably shouldn't be out in to start with.

do I really need to buy winter tires here or will my all seasons work (they barely have any miles on them)...I was reading that if its below 45 degrees they dont work that well...
