Car went into transmission limp... wtf? Please advise!

So yesterday after driving in some heavy rain, I made it to dinner and in the parking lot the car randomly went into transmission limp showing an exclamation point inside of a gear on the dash. I shut the car and turned it back on and parked. Got out of dinner, drove 3 friends home really riding the transmission hard, driving in manual, ds, d and switching between them, nothing happened in those 15 minutes, car drove fine and had smooth shifts. Should I chalk this up as a sensor being tripped by rain or some silly battery recall related issue?

Thanks

Had all of that checked one month ago two times, once at indy once at dealer, so I doubt it.

I remember my last 335i and hell my RX8 back in the day as well, would just occasionally throw a weird "Caution" or "alert" at me, then after freaking out pulling over, or whatever, turning the vehicle off then back on and... No more code. Really caused me concern, but nothing bad ever came from either one.

I swear someone at BMW has access to our cars, gets bored and occasionally just sends error codes for giggles cause they are bored.
