A ISO file is basically an exact copy of a cd-rom, so you need some software that can mount the ISO and present it is a real CD, try Daemon Tools

http://http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dt...ouncements.php

Also more information on ISO files

You can use the iso to burn the files to disc, but its basically just an image file, so you should be able to 'mount it' and extract/view the contents. Try opening the file with the software you usually use to burn CD's.

hmm well it seems complicated at first, but should be easy to resolve.

You need to basically do two things to get this installed.

either turn the iso into a working cd-rom or DVD

OR

"mount it" so the PC sees it as a virtual CD-ROM, DVD.

So... to turn the ISO into a disc I would suggest you probably already have SOMESORT of software on the PC to do this... What ever you might use to make data CDs or DVDs.

Good examples would be Nero or something similar.

Just load the ISO into this software, i.e. file open - and follow the instructions to burn the file to disk.

Alternatively get hold of Daemon tools, Power ISO Alcohol 120 etc all of these packages can turn disc image files into virtual discs. i.e. the PC thinks they are reading a real disc.

Bob's your uncle.

1. Easiest option is download a trial version of Nero 7 (if you dont already have Nero).
2. Install it.
3. Open the ISO file (double click it)- it will automatically open in Nero
4. Burn it to disk.

1. Download the daemon tools software, this allows you to create virtual disc drives on your PC and 'mount' disc images. As if you had plugged in a new disc drive with an original cd:

http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/down...tegory&catid=5

2. Install (you will need to reboot a couple of times).

3. Right click on the new red coloured 'daemon tools icon' that appears in your task bar (lower right of the screen).

4. Set the number of drives to 1 and choose the option to 'mount' an image, then navigate to your ISO file.

5. Once the image is mounted it should 'autorun' just as it would if you inserted a disc in your DVD or CD ROM drive. If not, go to 'my computer' where you should now see a 'new' disc drive, containing your disc. Double click on it and the software should run.

Daemon Tools is free to use and quick because you don't have to burn the ISO (disk image to disc before using it).

Winrar has native support for iso aswell. You can browse the iso as if it were a zip file etc.

You can browse with Winrar, but I don't think think that you can run an install set-up.

If this is software, the ISO is probably an image of an original installation disc. So it will need to be mounted (or burned to a disc) then run in order to do the install.

Or you could extract it to the hard drive.

But if you extract it to the hard drive you will just get a bundle of files. You won't be able to install the software, unless you mount it or burn it.

You should be able to install off the hard drive no problem. The only exceptions to this is software that installs security measures onto the hard drive to check for a physical disk. There are ways around this also.

I'm pretty sure that I've tried this before though without success. Which is why I installed Daemon Tools and just mount them.

I actually use 'Power Iso' now (I got it in order to do speedcamera files for the nav disc)

You may be right, but I think this would only work with a simple .exe file. If the install disc is a little bit more complex then I still think you would need to mount to install.

It's not hard to do anyway and daemon tools is a useful little prog.

Power ISO is another great program. I have just "unzipped" iso's many times and they have always worked unless protected etc. That also includes many images with very complex directory structures i.e -games.

So I could have unzipped 'bioshock' the other night and installed from the folder?

Creepy game by the way - those big robots are bloody hard to kill.

I have that on the 360 - great game.

You may have been able to - It depends on whether the copy protection method has been disabled /altered etc. I.e, whether the exe is looking for a disc image or not. There are so many different ways of retail protection now, it's hard to say. It also depends on who's cracked it etc. All this is purely guesswork on whether you are referring to a DL bioshock or a retail one? If its retail - no chance!!
