I agree, the N52 is a very nice piece of engineering and can be very frugal. This is how it did on a 450km trip I did this weekend.

You can see the average fuel economy and the instant at 120km, so within the speed limit it is very economic.





But super fun when giving it all.

Same here... I've been a massive turbo nut all my life. The 4 pot turbo or angry yob as Clarkson would call it but after I drove my 325i straight six... woah... silky smooth, so refined and that roar from the 6'er when you do give it the beans.. she's nervy! Easier to maintain than a turbo too so my turbo days are over.

Problem with N/A engine is that you have to rev the tits off them to feel the grunt.

Before you know it, there won't be any N/A engines to rev the tits off, with the prevalence of turbocharging in achieving efficiency gains!
