Alternative to having run flats

To those that are running NRFs, how are you accounting for potential punctures?

The reason I ask is that the car I've just bought and collect next weekend has NRFs fitted, but no provision at all. The previous owner just hoped it wouldn't get one!

A huge amount of cars now only have a 'Mobility' kit or similar.
Even my new 318d (eco tyres not runflats) had a compressor/slime kit instead of space saver.

Pick one up from a breaker - cars like the Ford Galaxy has them oem and plenty on eBay for 30 or so.

I thought I would take the risk and put pilot super sports on a few weeks back,

Week later drove over a pothole and the tyre sidewall blew out.

Tried the kit n compressor with no joy

Ended getting recovered on a low loader.

Amusing isn't it?
I had a full set of PSS fitted to the Megane (they are superb BTW) last month.
Only a couple of days later the wife potholed a front and slit the sidewall too.
Space saver in the Meg, but it won't clear the front Brembos - cue lots of messing about!

You could try a McGuyver trick and stuff it with grass lol - got my bike home once like that

The new E Class I run for work has same size all round non-runflat (non stagger - odd for a RWD) and space saver.
Happy days!

Yeah fair play, I'll have a look for a kit as you say. Cheers.

Thinking of using NRFs end of year and have used Holt's Tyre Weld in the past. Guy at garage once screwed at me for using it and claimed that it messes up the alloy. Really? So clean it off and if you cannot be bothered to then I will take my custom elsewhere.
