Another oil Leak - Sump or Crank Seal?

Hi Guys,

PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE really need some help from the wise!:conf used2

I have been having a very slow leak for a long while! I was usually topping up with oil once ever 3-4 months.

But all of a sudden it has gotten worse.

My local is really good to me. allowed me to put the car up on the ramp and try and isolate it...

It is coming from the back of the engine where it meets the tranny...

it could be the sump, but it could also be the crank seal...

Is anyone aware of this happening? The usual you hear of are the rocker cover and oil filter housing...

Here are some pics and sorry if they are not very helpful...

You can see that we washed all the old oil away... so what you see is fresh, from running the engine on the spot at 2500rpm for 5 minutes.

Looks like engine oil rather than tranny fluid. My guess would be crank seal - can't see much evidence from your pics of anything leaking from the sump pan gasket.

Looks to be coming from further up on top of the engine to me, crank rear seals don't tend to cover the transmission mounting webs (on the engine) in engine oil.

I'd work from the top down.
